আমার খেটো ধুতি পরা বাবার কথা খুব মনে পড়ে
জমিতে চাষ করা বাবা আমার, নিজে না খেলেও
আমাদের অভুক্ত রাখতেন না।
বেশিকিছু চাহিদাও ছিলো না তার,
গাছপালা, গরু, ঘরবাড়ি, সন্তান,
আর কেবল সরু চালের ধোঁয়া ওঠা ভাত।
এসব নিয়েই দিন কেটে যেত বেশ।
আর আমার শাড়ির আঁচলে হলুদ মোছা মা।
এই মলিন শাড়ি পরা আটপৌরে মাকে,
আমার বেশ লাগতো।
কপালে জ্বলজ্বল করতো সূর্যের মতো সিঁদুর।
আজ দু’বছর হলো কপালে খাঁ খাঁ শ্মশান।
মাকে তাই বড্ড অচেনা লাগে।
বাবা জীবনে একটাই ভুল কাজ করেছিলেন
চাষীর ছেলেকে বানাতে চেয়েছিলেন ইঞ্জিনিয়ার।
রক্ত মুখে তুলে যোগাড় করলেন টাকা।
আর আমি? সেই রক্তে ছোপানো –
দিস্তার পর দিস্তা কাগজে লিখতাম, কবিতা।
তোমার মনে আছে বাবা,
আমায় প্রথমবার হোস্টেলে দিতে গিয়ে,
ভারি ট্রাঙ্ক মাথায় করে বয়ে নিয়ে গিয়েছিলে
ছোট ছেলেটার কষ্ট হবে বলে।
যে বোঝা আমার বইবার কথা ছিল,
আমৃত্যু তুমি বহন করলে।
বাবা, আমি ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হয়েছি
কিন্তু আমি বাড়ি বানাইনা বাবা,
ঘর বাঁধতে শিখিনি।
শিখেছি শব্দের নির্মাণ -কৌশল।
অক্ষর দিয়ে ভাঙি, গড়ি মন।
সূক্ষ্ম বুদ্ধিতে সামলাই,
একইসঙ্গে অগুনতি খেলার সংসার।
এরপরেও তুমি আমায় ইঞ্জিনিয়ার বলবে না বাবা!
মানুষ আমাকে বিপ্লবী বলে
আমি নিজে বলি শব্দ শ্রমিক।
আমি অনশন মঞ্চে যাই
ধর্ণায় বসে পড়ি।
নারী দিবসে কলম দিয়ে আগুন ঝরাই।
দিনে সমব্যথী হয়ে সন্ধ্যায় বাবুঘাট বেড়াই
প্রিন্সেপঘাটে নৌকাবিহার করি।
সকালে অনশনকারির চোখের জল মুছে,
দুপুরের সিনেমাহলে প্রেমিকার শরীরের উষ্ণতা খুঁজি
আমার ঠোঁট নিখুঁত কারুকাজে ব্যস্ত হয়।
এরপরেও বলবে আমি ইঞ্জিনিয়ার নই?
আমায় কে সাহায্য করে জানো!
সেই বুড়ো লোকটা,
যার সহজপাঠ, এখনও আমার জীবনকে সহজ করে দেয়
যার গীতবিতানের দিব্যি খেয়ে,
দিব্যি মেয়েমানুষ ভোলাই।
পৃথিবীর সবথেকে বড়ো ইঞ্জিনিয়ার আমার গুরু
আমার ভয় কিসে!
তবুও মাঝে মাঝে দূরাগত স্বপ্নের মধ্যে দেখি,
গ্রামের আলপথে, মাথায় ট্রাঙ্ক নিয়ে
তুমি দাঁড়িয়ে আছ আজও..
এক মুহূর্তের জন্য কেঁপে উঠি
তিরতির করে ওঠে ঠোঁট,
দুচোখ দিয়ে গড়ায় নোনা তরল..
আবার জলদি হাতে সামলে নিই সব।
তোমার দেওয়া নামটা ধরে কেউ ডাকলে,
আমার আর ধাক্কা লাগে না
লজ্জাও হয় না।
বলোনা বাবা, আমি সত্যিই ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হইনি?
